ABSTRACT:
Electrification of the heating sector, using renewable sources, holds a high business potential for heat storage technology. The revolution of electrification of heating and cooling sector, which stand for almost 50% of the entire energy demand in most regions, is feasible in a short period of time as the infrastructure mostly exists. It is especially true in times of low peak demand when there’s more free capacity on the grid and thus no expansions are required. To enable production of heat when it’s need and not only at off peak times, a storage is needed. This will require high capacity (a bulk storage), multiple daily cycles all year long and a medium to long response time. Brenmiller Energy developed an innovative high-temperature heat storage, where input from electrical sources is converted to high thermal energy inside the unit through a high efficiency process. Supplying the required output, at different temperatures, including industrial steam, according to customer demand.
